ASSIGNMENT 2 : MODEL CONSTRUCTION

Instructions : Make a model construction using modelling clay. The model construction must consist of foundation, column, beam, slab

I was absent on the day this class was held (11th May) so this assignment was a solo work. I tried to ask my friend's to explain the task for me, and this is what I did.

Firstly, I started out by creating the foundation (mat footing), 4 columns, 1 slab (same size to the foundation), and 4 reinforcements

I put the reinforcement through the columns to help make it stronger

Then, I stuck the columns (with reinforcements)  onto the foundation

Then, I create 2 beams

I put the each beam on top of 2 columns

Lastly, I put the slab on top of the 2 beams

PERSONAL CONCLUSION
In my opinion, it is very important to include these elements (footing, beam, slab and column) when building an architectural structure. Because when these elements are included, the structure will be stronger.

PERSONAL IDEAS
I think the structure that I have created could be improved further by making the foundation/footing wider and thicker. This could not be done initially because I am limited of modelling clay, hence the small-sized structure. Other than that, the structure would be more sturdy if I measure the height of the column so that all of the column would be the same size.

REFLECTION
It is very important to add these four elements (footing, column, slab, beam) when making a structured building. These elements could help hold the building together - making it stronger and sturdier. Hence, safer for people to enjoy their lifestyle in.
