Instructions : Create a logo / monogram from your initials and ensemble the logo onto 5 items
SKETCHES

I chose the heart shaped logo with my initals "F W" on it.
STENCIL-MAKING

I did not have photoshop and so I manually created this stencil. I used pencil, ruler and compass (the thing we use in maths class to calculate 60 degree)
After drawing this out (on an A3 sized paper), I scanned it and resize it (according to the items' sizes) and print them out. Then, I paste them onto a 150gsm paper (so that its sturdy enough to be a stencil), and cut out the logo to make a stencil.
ITEM #1 : PEN HOLDER

I used the stencil as guideline (in case I screw up the shape of the logo), then I used black pen to make the logo. And because the pen is liquid-ish, it has possibilities for it to smudge. So, to save it, i applied some baby powder on top to make the ink matte. I am happy with how it turned out.
ITEM #2 : BOOK

Like the first one, I used a stencil to make the outline.

I used Sharpie marker to make this logo.
ITEM #3 : CARD CASE

So, the first thing that I did was I spray painted the top part of the card case because as you can see in the picture, it has a writing on it.

After the spray paint has dried, I used drawing pen to create the logo on this (also using the stencil with the suitable size.) I also applied baby powder on top of this (like how I did with the pen holder).
ITEM #4 : FILE

Using the same technique, I did the same thing with the file.

ITEM #5 : SHIRT

Using stencil too, this time with a Sharpie Fabric Marker, I drew out the logo onto a white shirt.

End-product!
FAILED ATTEMPT #1

I tried doing the monogram onto a paper bag. I thought this would be the easiest one but unfortunately, failed tremendously. I believe it did not turned out like I thought it would be is because I should have just used Marker or maybe a heavier stencil (because I intended to spray paint it)

This was when I spray painted it. I tried doing it 2 times but failed both, sadly. I was not satisfied because it doesn't come off clean. The edges are smudgy because of the spray. I believe its because the stencil was not heavy enough, so the pigments from the spray past through it, hence creating smudgy effects.
FAILED ATTEMPT #2

I honestly would not call this as failed attempt but this seems too easy for a final project submission. I initally wanted to make the logo / monogram as a pattern on the wooden frame but I was hesitant because I was not sure if I'm allowed to do that.
I ended up doing just one print on the edge of the frame and was not satisfied with how it turned out so I did not include this one in the final submission.
POSTER

I was very pleased when Mr Choy liked my Material Exploration work so I did another version of that. This time, I used masking tape to make it easier to cut out the lines later. I drew out the logo / monogram first, two of them oppoite of each other, then continued with random direction of masking tapes.

This is how it looked like (picture on left) , and then i cut out the negative space to create a stencil (picture on right)

I then (for the first time) experimented by spray painting two colours onto a paper. I was worried the colour would not compliment one another but thankfully it turned out good, I was impressed. Honestly, at first I quite like how it looked like with the stencil on, but the presentation does not look neat, so I decided to take off the stencil.

After taking the stencil off, I mounted it with a grey mounting board.
FINAL SUBMISSION ITEMS

This was all the items that I submitted for final submission.
Book, file, shirt, card case, pen holder, sketchbook, poster (mounted on grey mounting board)
SKETCHBOOK

I pasted the stencils I used in the sketchbook
